Alcest are a French band founded by Neige (Stéphane Paut) known for pioneering the blackgaze subgenre, which fuses black metal, shoegaze and post-rock elements. They are notable at festivals for their ability to create a unique and emotive soundscape, contrasting ethereal melodies with the intensity of metal, while drawing inspiration from spiritual experiences.
